Statement

My work investigates relationships of time, origins, histories, and psychological structures. Starting from a point of personal experience, I gather and integrate subject matter from disparate sources that extend to science, history, and archaeology, and synthesize them into painting and drawing.

My main themes revolve around the displacement of structures of thought, changing perspective, and palimpsests of time. These paintings and drawings become containers of these searches that lead me to make unexpected connections that go beyond my ability to speak about them directly, but are about furthering my own understanding of life experiences, whether emotive, cognitive, or psychological.

In my process I uncover and recover images intuitively while making non-linear connections as I feel my way through the work, as a search is led by a question. Working on conscious and subconscious levels, I reveal images through concealing in the form of a palimpsest, where images are reworked and the hidden is still visible.
